Prairie Toyota Dealers launch drive-in movie tour

The Prairie Toyota Dealers launched its Reels on Wheels drive-in movie tour this week as a way for Canadians to spend time with friends and family in a “COVID-friendly way.

The tour will move across Western Canada in 24 communities, and aims to raise money for local charities with the outdoor movie events. Anyone interested in joining can show up in their car and tune into the FM radio station to watch a family-friendly movie.

“It has been an indescribably difficult year for everyone and we’re happy to do our part to not only create a fun, family-friendly event for those in our community, but to support some fantastic local charities while doing so,” said Chris Schulz, Chairman of the Prairie Toyota Dealers.

Schulz said they were able to raise more than $40,000 for local charities last year—a number they hope to exceed for 2021.

The events will be delivered in communities across Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia. All events will be by-donation with 100 per cent of the proceeds going to a local charity in each community, according to the Prairie Toyota Dealers.

The events will include giveaways and prizes, and a chance for attendees to enter and win a grand prize: a one-year lease of either a 2021 Toyota Tacoma or a 2021 RAV4.

The campaign kicked off on Tuesday, June 29 in Steinbach, Man., with the film Jumanji: The Next Level, with all proceeds going toward Cystic Fibrosis Canada- Winnipeg Chapter.
